According to Indian media, a couple in Meerut came to Facebook live and drank poison. The poisonous shoe merchant was identified as Rajiv Tomar when his wife's name was Poonam.
Addressing Prime Minister Modi in a live Facebook session, Rajiv said that because of his policies, middle class businessmen have come to the streets and they have no choice but to commit suicide. Meanwhile, businessman Rajiv drank poison from a paddy field. At the same time, his wife came and tried to vomit poison by putting her fingers in his throat, but when he failed, he drank poison himself.
Facebook users reported to police. Police rushed the two to the hospital where wife Poonam succumbed to her injuries while her husband Rajiv's condition is said to be critical. In India, the Modi government has implemented a cruel GST which was rejected by the businessmen as their death and also threatened to protest.
