Russia's invasion of Ukraine: How difficult is it for Ukraine to defend itself?

Now that Russia has invaded Ukraine from three sides, how difficult will it be for Ukraine to defend itself? The Ukrainian army lags far behind Russia in terms of weapons and numbers. The military might of Ukraine and Russia cannot be compared to the amount of money invested in modernizing the military under President Putin.

"I think Ukraine is in a very difficult situation and its military leaders will have to make very difficult decisions," said Dr. Jack Watling of the Royal United Services Institute.

Western security officials estimate that Russia has 190,000 troops on the Ukrainian border, while the entire Ukrainian army is made up of 125,000 troops. Russian forces are entering Ukraine from many directions.

It will be difficult for Ukraine to defend its thousands of miles of border with Russia and Belarus. Defending the thousands of miles of border from Belarus in the north to Crimea in the south is not easy. If you consider the map of Ukraine the front of the crocodile, it will have to defend its border from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Former British Army Brigadier Ben Berry, affiliated with the International Institute for Strategic Studies, believes it will be difficult to defend. Moreover, Ukraine is under threat from many quarters and its forces are scattered everywhere.
